How to choose real friends?
Choosing friends
When you say friends, there are different kinds of friends. The people you associate with, will have a major impact and influence in your life. The people you hangout with, tells how you will end up. This is why it is so important to determine what kind of friends you hang around.
They are:
- Real – honest, loyal and being there through good and bad times.
- Acquaintance – a companion, colleague and just an associate
- Toxic – pretending to be your friend
- Seasonal – come and go, they are there for a season
To have a real friend, is like being a real brother or a sister, that you picture even without having one.
Real or true friend quality:
- Trustworthy – being able to trust, even the darkest secrets.
- Supportive – always there when you need them
- Accept who you are, and will not judge you. Not judgemental. Won’t lie to you. Tell you even if you have a bad hair day.
- Listen to you. Having to have a shoulder to cry on, just listens.
- Same interest. You show common attraction and goals
- Reciprocate. They do the same or more favors, back at you.
- Being there through good and bad times.
- Fight for you even if you think you are wrong. I find it funny but it’s true.
- Understand you. They have empathy for what you feel.
- Make you feel safe and secure. When you are around them, there is a sense of security.
- Dependable and reliable. When you fall, someone is there to pick you up. Just one call away.
- Know what timeout is. They know that sometimes you need alone time and respect it.
Can I recommend a friend to you? This friend of mine will never leave you nor forsake you, guaranteed and tested by me. He can be your friend too. His name is Jesus!
Tell me who your friends are, and I’ll tell you who you are. Having a real friend is work, so if you choose to be a friend or looking for one, be sure you are committed. You simply must choose the right friends. It takes some time to evaluate your real friends, but in the end, it’s all worth it!
